Stupid Cole

I'm still not done with the book, which is a shame on it's own. To add on to that the book has literally find nowhere since the last time. Nothing. Has. Happened, so yeah that is as well, a shame. That doesn't make me not like the book though, because I am still liking the book while it lasts.

Also has it seriously not been two book weeks yet, really its been a while since the last supply drop. That better happen soon because Cole is going crazy, he just picked up a mouse and munched on it...he's that desperate. Noooooo though it hasn't been two weeks yet, and he still has to go a year, and still hasn't gone two weeks.

Touching Spirit Bear

Good news and bad news in the case of Cole, that's his name forgot to add it in the first post. Cole has started to rethink his ways of doing things, he's come to realize that he can't blame people for his problems, ah yes. He had his first epiphany, for anyone whom doesn't know what that is it's basically a moment of "Whoa, this makes sense. I need to change something!" Cole has been injured and lies on the ground. In fear of dying he wants to blame somebody, of course he does it is literally what he is known for. He is just getting to know the fact that you can't do that. Can't just blame everyone around you for your problems because you think they caused it when you really did.

Cole comes to regret the stupid idea of burning all his supplies that he wouldn't be receiving more of for at least another week and a half. So in a sense of all this he has just gotten to a single claw of "touching spirit bear" Obviously there will be much more to come on his journey of healing and prosperity, those are the moments I anticipate for myself to read. I just really wanna see how the guards react when they come back for another supply refill, only to find bits of ash all around and neither Cole or the prier supplies to be found. The worst thing I see happening is him getting rid of the next run of supplies, but I don't think he'll be stupid enough to do so.

New Book

So I've gotten a new book, Touching Spirit Bear. So far I've gotta say I actually like the book, it has a simple concept but I like that about it. It revolves around a Native American form of justice; circle justice. I like it as well because the main boy in the book is very tempered and has literally beaten another persons head in for the fourth or fifth time. He's faced with a decision, either he goes to be tried as an adult and sentenced to 25 years in jail or go through circle justice.
Basically it's a tradition of justice where someone is set on an island to thrive and survive for a year alone, as to try and heal and rejuvenate the perpetrator's soul. Now he thinks he'll be able to just swim off the island to a nearby town of northern Alaska. As overconfident as he is he just wants to add insult to injury and burn two weeks worth of supplies. If I was ever in his place I would literally worship the supplies, seriously though what did he expect to gain from that. He is literally losing thinking he'll gain from that. To me that's just plain illogical whether he has temper problems or not. I just don't get it.

Fish in the sky

So stuff has actually happened. Josh has been ditching school for the past week, and Gertrude was raped and might be pregnant. Both very bad things at hand. So the problem josh has is that the day he was gonna tell his mom he comes home to find his mom and his principle sitting and waiting with a "We've missed you at school Josh." Then BOOM..his mom is exploding on him non-stop and Mr.Pinko, principle, is trying to calm her down. He goes on trying to explain that it wasn't his fault, something needed to have caused it such as a bully or something. Josh then says that he was only scared, of the shower warden whom is a girl and he feels unconfortable about that. Pinko is dumbstruck while Josh's mom is exclaiming that it is all just an excuse. Which was fantastic and all but not as serious as Gertrude's situation.
So she was at a party one night and she and her boyfriend were there together. He wanted to go into the other room and she was fine with it too, she was just getting bored. He wanted to do some things and she wasn't into it and didn't wanna do anything. He then began to rip her clothes off and force himself onto her. The only person who knows about this is Josh, when she came home at one in the morning and told him everything. He was both scared for her and not caring because well...it was one in the morning. This wasn't as long of a story but a story nonetheless.

Native Americans/On The Rez

Well for one Native Americans were pushed aside by literally being pushed aside after having their land taken from them. I mean this how they were removed from their homes and land, then swept up and put to a designated area for them to live in. They were made to feel unimportant by the standards of the white settlers. As Captain Henry Pratt put it "Kill the Indian, save the man.", they were portrayed as uncivilized savages from the wild and needed to be "saved" and "standardized" by being taken and removing the Indian culture that they have and replacing it with Pratt's idea of non-savage.

I find the purpose of Shanice's essay to show people who still think under stereotypes about Native Americans a realization. So as to show that there really isn't much different about her and her tribes than normal people outside of the reservations. She lives like a normal person just with a few more chores like going hunting for food or taking care of farm animals; of course she tries to stay close to her roots and participates in big tribal celebrations. Those are the times where she gets to dress up and get to work on necklaces and bead work. As far as I see it, she's just like any other girl.

Fish in The Sky 3

I have a slight dilemma, being that a good chunk of the book is.. inappropriate you could say. Some other things happen in the book obviously but those things are just "Oh, and Jack didn't even come to band today. He even knew that today was mandatory too." Those are the kind of sentences and story in the book. The book is literately just about the boy having his older cousin move in and be considered a princess by his mother, and other than that it's just his.. odd feelings in more emotions than one. I wish I was joking about the book but alas, I'm not. I only wish the book has am actual plot and some depth. Just a little bit is enough.
As I'm almost done with the book it's too late to abandon it. I had faith in it for a while that it would get better, can't say I have that anymore. Projects aren't as hard than doing blogs. Projects are a set objective generally involving just info on the book and characters, blogs on the other hand are always different and rely solely on the events in the book. Well, that's the challenge about it I guess.

Fish in The Sky 2

Ah yes, this book. Originally the book was brought to my attention by a friend and and flipped around to random pages to find that it was a lot like "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" in the way of it being a growing up/coming of age story. Just with the characters being in middle school than being sophomores and seniors in high school. It's a little like this show (you probably have never heard of it as it was in my childhood) by the name of "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide"  Just a little story about a boy making tips and making friends and getting into weird experiences through his middle school career. That show made me the weird person I am today, and especially books like the one I'm reading because they are just straight weird and honest and that's the kind of thing I like/can relate to.
Most books I can never get into, but as I said that it's books like this that I can get into. I'm guessing it's because almost everyone can relate to the stories foretold in the book. I don't know, now I'm just blabbering on. This is all I can think of to write for now, but this post will be updated soon.
